Bio

Chloe Murphy is a Birmingham-born painter living and working in London. She works in oils and is particularly drawn to the transparency and viscosity of the medium.

Her core themes surround the figure, nature, and movement (or lack thereof). The work is as much about the qualities of the paint itself as it is about its subjects. An attention to the experience of painting somewhat drives the direction of her work; one goal is to keep a feeling of spontaneity within the linework.

Chloe did not attend art school but has followed traditional drawing methods, and attends regular figurative still life sessions.
